Our Story

How We Met - Christina's Version of the Story

Christina was just about ready to give up on dating - when a friend of hers told her about Tinder! Yes - Tinder. Christina had no idea what she was getting into. She soon found that Tinder was not 100% about finding love, but "other things". She saw Eric's profile, and swiped right!

A few days later, Eric swiped right as well. Christina initiated (and maintained) all of the conversations between the two of them. Eric would go extended periods of time without responding (keeping Christina guessing and also driving her crazy). Christina kept at it and eventually asked Eric to meet in person. They met at Starbucks because Christina had already decided that true love cannot be found in a bar...

Eric showed up late (and blamed this on construction). When he arrived, Christina had already purchased (and drank most of) her Pumpkin Spice Latte. The two of them sat and talked for about 2 hours (who would have thought that Eric can tolerate a 2 hour conversation). Christina and Eric agreed to keep in touch. Christina knew that she was 100% interested in Eric, but Eric was very hard to read.

For weeks and probably months after the initial meeting, Christina continued to initiate the dates, text messages, and phone calls. One day, Christina became frustrated with always having to be the one initiating everything, and told Eric that he needs to start initiating these things as well if he was interested!

And then it was history, and Christina and Eric fell in love, had a baby, and are now getting married...not the traditional story, or order of doing things - but that's okay. It's perfect. We look forward to sharing our special day with you!

How We Met - Eric's Version of the Story

Eric was sitting there one day hanging out on the couch with his partner in crime Dakota and thought well shit I'm going to be 31 in a month. So he started thinking about where he was in life... He has a sweet sports car, a new house, a great job, and an awesome dog... He was only missing one thing so he decided to give this Tinder thing all the young kids were talking about the old college try. After a month of ignoring it for the most part he received a message from a girl whom was his sisters age, he thought to himself well he always had this rule about never dating someone younger than his sister but what the hell, so he responded.

After a couple back and forth messages and a little arm pulling he agreed to meet for coffee. Being a person that only ever drank convience store coffee at best he had no idea where they would meet until Christina suggested Starbucks on Banksville Road not being all that far from his house he obliged, only to find out there was ton of construction on the road that Christina failed to inform him about, even though she drove through it every day to get to her apartment. On the way there Christina texted Eric to let him know what she was wearing and he thought to himself I've seen pictures of this girl I know what she looks like, then he thought wait am I being catfished or something am I going to meet some other girl not in the pictures I've seen... He arrived at said Starbucks and they proceeded to talk for seemed like forever in reality it was like 2 hours. They then decided it was time to go on with their day on the way out all Eric could think about was is this girl going to hug me good bye, are we going to shake hands, fist bump... I've never done this before... This is going to be awkward isn't it...? OH MY GOD what do I do!!!!

For the next week they continued to text back and forth, and decided to meet up again. So being a Friday night they met at a little dive bar Christina suggested in South Side.. Her exact words were there is tons of parking outside and there is no one here. So Eric gets in his Mustang and heads on down only to find out there is a football game at the stadium directly across from the bar so there is zero parking. He thought to himself Strike 1! After parking and going into the bar and chatting with the lovely Christina for a couple minutes her friends start showing up at said bar... Not 1 or 2 friends but a whole slew of them, Eric thought to himself he's been setup and bamboozled into meeting all the friends already.. Strike 2!!!

After the bar encounter they met up to go to the zoo, well it was free zoo day so they didn't even make it across the Highland Park bridge before they decided against that idea. So the two went to Burgatory where Eric being frugal ordered a modest $10 burger and a Coke.. Christina on the other hand ordered a $20 burger and a $10 milkshake. Eric thought to himself if I keep hanging out with this girl I'm going to be broke. Strike 3!

We continued to hangout and talk for the next several months before Eric realized that Christina actually liked him and wasn't scared away by how weird he was, so it was then that he thought that this could be something real. We did a lot that summer, went to Pirate games, traveled, and just hung out. Then came December when Eric received some of the worst news of his life, but Christina stayed by his side and willed him through it and at that moment Eric realized he could never let this wonderful human go.
